Montréal

Europe Canada

Wow, what a great European city located in North America. Friendly, clean, safe, and full or arts and architecture.

Welcome to AZooNY Montreal!

Mount Royal view of Montreal
Mount Royal. This is something all great cities have, a mountain to overlook the town (folks call it a mountain, but it's really a hill :-)). A beautiful hill though, with astounding views.

Montreal Basilia du Notre Dame
Basilique Notre-Dame de Montréal (Notre Dame Basilica or Church)
Truly one of the great wonders in the world. They've done a nice job of lighting up the place to highlight all the nooks and crannies.

The gateway to Chinatown and scenes from Old Town Montréal.

There is an old world charm to the place. The best is sitting out on the street for dinning. An impressive feat is that the Montrealler's flip between English and French at the drop of a hat. But make no mistake, French is the language of choice. And rightly so. AZooNY was getting a bit disturbed by all the English in the tourist districts. Bravo Montreal and please don't ever let the rest of Canada force English on you.

La Foule Illuminee
Quite the crowd has gathered outside the BNP Tower (Banque Nationale de Paris). The sculpture "The Illuminated Crowd" (1985) by Raymond Mason

"A crowd has gathered, facing a light, an illumination brought about by a fire, an event, an ideology - or an ideal. The strong light casts shadows, and as the light moves toward the back and diminishes, the mood degenerates, rowdiness, disorder and violence occur, showing the fragile nature of man. Illumination, hope, involvement, hilarity, irritation, fear, illness, violence, murder and death - the flow of man's emotion through space and on the hat (AZooNY added:-))." - Raymond Mason.
